If you're local and would like to support a great cause this Sunday, May 15, please visit Miramonte Resort & Spa for the 4th Annual Slow Food Desert Cities "Farm to Table" fundraiser to build community school gardens. For more information, or to purchase tickets, please read more below.
This Sunday will be a convivial occasion to remember with delicious foods prepared by local celebrity chefs, including Miramonte's Executive Chef, Robert Nyerick. We are expecting 15+ chefs, and each dish will feature sustainably grown produce from local farms. Several farmers and neighborhood artisans will be joining us and showcasing their products.
There will be live music, wine, local beer and good cheer! Teachers from local schools whose gardens Slow Food Desert Cities supports will sell the childrens' artwork, and a silent auction will feature unique Reginald Pollack fine art. The raffle includes numerous goodies such as gift certificates for gourmet meals, foot massages, spa packages, interpretive hikes, hair salon treatments, 30-day gym memberships, and more!
Since Slow Food Desert Cities and Hidden Harvest built their first outdoor garden for the Agua Caliente Elementary School in Cathedral City in 2009, they have donated $6,000 to garden start-ups and ongoing support. To honor their commitments this year, their goal is to sell 300 tickets for the Slow Food Desert Cities "Farm to Table" fundraiser to finance irrigation systems, raised beds, tools, materials and services.
Help our community raise money to create and support school garden programs! We can't do it without you, so purchase tickets here: http://www.slowfooddesertcities.org/
