Meet the Chef

Robert Nyerick

Executive Chef, Ristorante Brissago

Miramonte Resort & Spa is delighted to welcome Executive Chef Robert Nyerick to the Mediterranean-inspired jewel of the desert. With 30 years of experience, Nyerick has earned a reputation as a talented, creative chef. American-born, Nyerick comes to Miramonte from the notable Palm Springs eatery Spencer's Restaurant, where he led the kitchen staff for more than two years.

Serving as the Executive Sous Chef at the Four Seasons Beverly Wilshire Hotel and working with Swiss Hotel Boston, Bellevue Palace Hotel, Bern, Switzerland and Swiss Grand Hotel, Seoul, South Korea Nyerick's experiences around the world showcase his dedication to quality cuisine. In addition, he has worked with food and beverage festivals around the globe including those in Melbourne, Kuala Lumpur, and Hong Kong where a variety of styles and cultures were introduced to him. During his international culinary adventures, Nyerick learned to appreciate the simplicity, artistry, and thoughtfulness involved in presentation and also the need to use the freshest seasonal ingredients available.

Prior to his international experiences, Nyerick was the Executive Sous Chef at the Copley Plaza Hotel and held the same position at the Westin Hotel, both in Boston, Mass. Over the years, he has cooked for royalty, presidents, dignitaries, sports and entertainment icons, and some of the most influential businesspeople in the world.

Nyerick is a member of the American Culinary Federation and has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Hospitality Management from Florida International University, as well as A.O.S. degree from the Culinary Institute of America in New York. While obtaining his formal education, Nyerick used his time building a foundation of knowledge on a broad spectrum of topics that affect the hospitality business. The excitement of discovery, of new places, cultures, people, foods, beverages, and customs brought Nyerick to the food community and to Miramonte.

Overseeing the food program at Miramonte, Nyerick looks forward creating innovative cuisine. When asked what he enjoys most about the new position, he notes, "I look forward to making our guests happy. The awards I most treasure are the ones we get every day from our guests."

Nyerick lives in the Coachella Valley with his wife of 17 years, Mary Ellen, and two daughers Jennifer, 14 and Katherine, 11. Nyerick's goal for Miramonte and Ristorante Brissago is clear, "I want Miramonte to become the premier dining and resort destination in the Coachella Valley," and he has the skills, experience, and passion to take both to new levels of success.
