Frequently groups that are Social, Military, Education, Religious and Fraternal by nature – referred to collectively as “SMERF” groups by hotels – don’t have a hired meeting planner to coordinate the event. Often, the planner is a staff member with other regular duties or even a volunteer who may or may not have experience in event planning. Does this sound familiar? Have you been volunteered?
