Experience Mountain Magic at MiramonteNovember 18, 2017
Even though its location is far from obscure, Indian Wells might still be one of California’s best-kept secrets. Tucked away at the foot of the Santa Rosa and San Jacinto mountain ranges, it boasts the shimmering desert sparkle of the classic Californian landscape without the dizzying lights of the major metropolises.
The Coachella Valley in fall is a quiet affair compared to its spring superstar moment, but that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy the area all year round. In fact, Indian Wells is set for a different kind of spectacle in the coming weeks – one which will entertain softer souls and lovers of nature.
Star Party at the Monument
On November 25th, the star-spangled celestial dome will take center stage in our ‘hood (as it usually does, with over 275 days of clear skies!). The Astronomical Society of the Desert is organizing “sky tours” and direct observations of the nocturnal heavens through telescopes and giant binoculars. And since it’s a free family event, starry-eyed kids can also attend.
The event will run from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM PST and is hosted by the Santa Rosa & San Jacinto Mountains National Monument Visitor Center and sponsored by Friends of the Desert Mountains.
Desert Mountains Art Faire
Once every month, the desert mountains are dressed up in the vibrant colors of local culture. An array of artists contribute their photography, paintings, ceramics, hand-painted silks and more to this picturesque market nestled high up in the cradle of nature. Collect a desert memento or pick up a unique gift before the arrival of the festive season. You’ll bump into lovely folk from all walks of life while savoring the crisp surroundings of the Santa Rosa-San Jacinto Desert Mountains National Monument.
Come chill in the mountains and support local artistic talent on December 2nd from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM PST.
